ARMSTRONG 865 PERFORMANCE MAST foil mast

Collaborating with a team of America's Cup foil engineers, we set out to develop a high-performance mast to take us into the future. Our design goal called for a unique blend of strength, stiffness, durability and lightness. Combining CFD analysis with expert knowledge has allowed us to fine-tune every section of the mast from the baseplate to the fuselage connection for maximum efficiency. “Working with the latest premium composites available, we tested over 100 prototypes to work out the optimal fiber orientation for designed strength and flexibility. In line with our philosophy of strength and lightness, we have redesigned the geometry of the upper part of the shaft to eliminate every possible extra gram of dead weight. -Army Armstrong Structural analysis shows that a combination of both high modulus (HM) and intermediate modulus (IM) carbon fibers best distributes loads across various sections of the mast. The stiffness of HM minimizes bending in the center strut area of ​​the mast, and the high tensile strength of IM accommodates the complex shapes of the upper plate and fuselage connection. The result is a top-of-the-line mast made of premium materials, new mast section, refined base plate, reduced strength fuselage connection and new construction method. Proprietary titanium M7 shaft top hardware follows suit with a strong, lightweight, drag-reducing connection to the board. These trees are designed with a tree tilt angle. This refines the angle of the board to the foil for a more comfortable and forgiving ride.
